You know how you get that nagging feeling you've forgotten something? Well, I had that feeling on my way home from my work meeting yesterday. And I thought to myself, hmmm that might be something I could blog about. I got home a bit after 1:00pm and I made myself some lunch and checked my google reader. I thought to myself, I have over an hour to relax before I go pick up munchkin. While I was channel surfing I double checked the clock, feeling like it should be time to leave, but it wasn't even 2:15pm, and I never leave the house before 2:30pm. Then I heard the garage door open.

And it HIT me.

It was Wednesday.

Early release day.

Yes, as in the school gets out an hour early!

The garage door was Breanna,

who RODE HER BIKE HOME!

OMG! YESIDID! I forgot to pick up Brooke at school yesterday afternoon. Uh-huh!

Need one more way to spot a 2nd child? Check out those last 20 kids to be picked up after school.

ps I didn't so much forget her as I forgot what day of the week it was.
pps We live only about 2 minutes from the school, so I was not the last person to pick up my child.
ppps This early release deal? Not new! I've been picking up Breanna early on Wednesday since kindergarten.
pppps
Whichever rocket scientist decided early release Wednesday was a bright idea can kiss my ass.
ppppps Remember last week my posts started writing themselves? Enough already!

Oh my goodness. You had a nagging feeling...this happens to me a lot of the time. How terrible for you, I can only imagine the panic you felt!!!
I carpool, and have since Lo was in 2nd grade. So, in as many as 8 years I think the kids have only been forgotten 3 times due to miscomunication with other Mom and me. But what a horrible feeling.
Now we can both sit by the mailbox and wait for that Mother of the Year award!!! :)
Take care -Suz

Oh my! I often get hit with a moment of panic thinking where are the kids? Did I forget them?

I used to fear I'd somehow leave them in the car or one behind at the house. It never happened. But, I hate that feeling!!

Poor you. And, just feeling like you had a few spare moments.

I bet you are a hoot to hang out with!

Happy Thursday!

Oh, but remember? I was the Mom who actually forgot it was picture day. And, the children had dressed themselves? And, Lil'Gal had done her own hair.

*sigh* Oh, and team sports day. Yep. Missed that one too.

*double sigh*

Maybe school should meet 9-5 every day of the year?

Thank God it was Brooke and not Breanna!! That's like the time I was on the phone with Julie, on a Wednesday, a Wednesday that I was supposed to be running a Girl Scout meeting that included her child..."Brit, it's 2:00 shouldn't you be at school?" Huh...so really I guess I am not getting Girl Scout leader of the year either!!!!

My nagging feeling was a phone call from the school asking me if I was ever going to come get my kid or should they just make her the night janitor. Talk about guilting me into feeling like a completely bad mommy...

This doesn't always work for me, but here is the link from when I posted that recipe I made for breakfast this morning [I forgot to mention I added ham, but it's in the recipe. There are a few listed in this post]

Happy Day!

I have repeatedly forgotten to take my daughter to her violin lesson. Bad dad. Bad, bad dad.

Early release is just one more thing to have to remember. Our school sends the kids home on Tuesday wearing BIG stickers reminding parents about it. At first I thought that was overkill and then - I realize it's saved me more than once.
